Thames Valley office take-up increases

Office take-up in the Thames Valley corridor in the first quarter of 2011 was up almost by half on the corresponding period last year.

Almost 395,000 sq ft of space was taken up in the region, which outside central London is one of the most important barometers of the commercial property market. The area covers key office locations such as Hammersmith, Stockley Park, Slough, Maidenhead, Windsor, Bracknell and Reading.

Significant office deals including Adobe Systems taking 49,500 sq ft in Maidenhead and 36,400 sq ft by BP at Stockley Park, near Heathrow.

Paul Smith of Bray Fox Smith says: “These are encouraging figures given the current economic situation. Corporate occupiers within the M4 corridor are still focused heavily on improving their bottom lines but many realise that once-in-a-lifetime opportunities exist to address their property requirements. As a result much of the take-up has been in the higher quality stock. “
