Reading Borough Council gives local office market a lift
News that Reading Borough Council is to finally commit to relocating
to a new headquarters has set the local market stirring.
The council was originally looking to move two years ago but those
plans were scrapped when costs proved unaffordable. Now the council
appears to have little option as it’s existing civic centre is unfit
for occupation for health and safety reasons
The local authority has put out a requirement for 85,000 sq ft which
could be a single town centre building or an 18,000 sq ft hq in the
town centre with the remaining 67,000 sq ft back office functions
based elsewhere.
It is understood that the council has called for RFPs by 4 March.
