Access Self Storage Gains Consent For New Hammersmith HQ
Access Self Storage has successfully secured planning consent for a change of use from industrial to offices, in order to redevelop their premises at 184 Shepherds Bush Road in Hammersmith. The Grade II listed former Ford Motors warehouse will be redeveloped into a striking 115,000 sq ft office headquarters building.
The sympathetic design by ColladoCollins retains the architectural and historical qualities of the pre war Grade 2 listed building whilst creating an additional 3 floors of contemporary offices contained within a striking diagrid glazed structure.
The character office building will benefit from large efficient floor plates of up to 23,000 sq ft. The creation of a new central core will maximise efficiency and natural light to create a unique efficient working environment, suitable for conventional or more creative occupiers.
Richard Harding from Bray Fox Smith, retained letting agent, has agreed terms with an occupier to take the whole building in an “off market deal”. Whilst the identity of the tenant and terms of the deal remain confidential the agent has stated that the unique character of the building and the appeal of Hammersmith as an office location have been key factors in attracting early interest in the scheme on a pre-let basis.
184 Shepherd’s Bush Road comprises a 50,000 sq ft three storey industrial building, formerly known as Citroen House. The building is currently in use by Access Self Storage, and has a lawful Class B8 use. The site was originally built as a motor garage service depot with showroom, constructed for the Ford Motor Company around 1916. Soon afterwards it was taken over by Citroen in 1926 and used as a car showroom.
